Advanced Eye Examinations

Discover what to expect from your eye examination

We have been providing quality eye care to our community since 1990. With a patient-focused approach, we offer in-depth eye examinations that give you a complete look at your eye health and vision. Using the latest technology and testing methods, we get to know your vision and eye health needs and monitor them from session to session – this allows us to identify any problems early on and give you up-to-date advice and assistance on keeping your eyes in good shape.

Both NHS and private examinations are available so you can choose an option to suit your budget and eye care needs.

Your eye health

Regular eye examinations give you the peace of mind of knowing your eyes are in good health. It is important that an eye exam does more than just test your vision. Because they look at your eyes as a whole, our optometrists can give you accurate advice on how to look after your eyes and, if you have a prescription, help you make the most of your glasses or contact lenses.

Alongside regular checkups, it is important to use the right eyewear, follow good hygiene practices when using contact lenses and look after your regular health as best you can. This can help you keep your eyes healthy and protect your vision in the long run.

What to expect in your eye examination?

Your eye examination is an important regular health check and an opportunity for you to address any concerns you have about your eyes and vision. All examinations include tests to assess your vision, look for any abnormalities or signs of eye conditions and see what may be causing any symptoms you are experiencing. Depending on your case history or the results of some tests, your optometrist may also recommend additional testing to look in more detail at your eye health.

Visual Fields Testing

Vision is often measured by how far down the letter chart we can read correctly. But another very important part of our everyday experience of life is our awareness of the things further out in our peripheral vision. This wider visual awareness is known as our visual field.

Sadly there are some conditions that cause us to lose some or part of our field of vision, the most common of which is Glaucoma. Any condition that affects the nerve of the eye or the brain like strokes or trauma can also result in a loss of areas of peripheral vision.

As a result, we carry out routine checks for those at risk of loss of side vision.
